My artwork’s focus is what makes us human: the full range of our shared emotions and stories. The face and form show it all, from love to anger, sadness to joy, and to everything across the span of human experience.

I started reading and collecting comic books in first grade and learned to draw by copying masters of that art, such as Jack Kirby, John Romita, John Buscema, and Neal Adams. In the 1990s I returned to comics as a co-creator, drawing, inking, and lettering Doris Nelson Atomic Housewife.

My formal art education started in grade school, taking drawing and painting classes at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Association and continued during college at Detroit’s Center for Creative Studies. I left CCS for a job at a local advertising agency, then moved on to work in electronic pre-press, programming, and publishing, before launching my own graphic design and photography business. During those years I also finished my BA in graphic design at Marygrove College in Detroit.

Over time, my clients increasingly needed websites, and the design work moved online. I went on to rebuild Chrysler’s intranet for its Advance Manufacturing and Engineering division, and for nearly thirty years I led technology and software development teams for banks, health systems, and national companies.

My return to art came a few years ago after joining a local sketch group, and the twice-weekly sessions gave me a steady rhythm of practice and improvement. This creative focus continued to grow, and led to my first solo show in 2024 titled Captured Moments. This October, I have once again been accepted to Northville Art House’s 2026 Off Center group exhibition, where I won first place in 2025.

Besides 2D art, I am a woodworker. Every frame and all presentation hardware for my artwork is built by hand in my woodshop.

I live in Royal Oak, Michigan, where I volunteer as president of the Royal Oak Arts Council.
